Get to Know Dr. Abtin Shahriari
Dr. Abtin Shahriari is a skilled oral maxillofacial surgeon and prides himself on being a good listener in order to provide the best care for his patients. After receiving his Master’s degree, Dr. Abtin Shahriari worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for three years. He also was a consultant to the World Health Organization for the eradication of the polio virus in Bihar, India. Dr. Abtin attended Emory University for his Bachelor of Science degree and went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania. He then went back to Emory University and completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification.
Dr. Abtin has extensive research and academic interests and has presented multiple articles at national and international meetings. He is actively engaged in research projects involving different aspects of maxillofacial surgery. His previous studies have been published in several journals including the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of Sports Medicine, and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal.
He speaks three languages (English, Spanish, and Persian) and feels that the most important and rewarding part of his work is the care he provides for his patients. He always approaches treatment from the perspective of the patient, which helps him understand their needs. Dr. Abtin feels strongly that physician-patient communication is essential in establishing high-quality, exceptional care. When he’s not in the office, Dr. Abtin enjoys Yoga, chess, and mountain climbing.
